CADBORO BAY, VICTORIA, BC
Beware of Cadborosaurus...
North of The Uplands, drive along Cadboro Bay Road to Cadboro Bay. Turn
right on Sinclair, down to Gyro Park & the ocean at Cadboro Bay. The
legendary sea monster Cadborosaurus is said to reside around these shores.
Even if you don’t see him (her?) it’s a pleasant place to rest.
If you have kids with you, a great place to play on the three sea creatures,
picnic & see little fish in the water. Head back to Cadboro Bay Village.
The village offers Smuggler’s Cove Pub, Olive Olios, shops,
a book store, grocers, in an enchantingly beautiful setting by the sea.
Just up the hill on Sinclair Avenue is Canada’s "best",
University of Victoria. Worth a side-visit, around the circular Ring Road.
Once you have landed on the island, you can get to Cadboro Bay House in the following ways:
A. From the north (Vancouver, Nanaimo and the rest of Vancouver Island):
1. From Swartz Bay ferry terminal follow Highway 17 to McKenzie Avenue or
2. From Nanaimo and points up-island follow Highway 1 to McKenzie Avenue
Turn left on McKenzie Ave and follow it past the University of
Victoria and down the steep hill to Cadboro Bay Village (4 way stop). Turn left on
Cadboro Bay Road and follow it for three blocks. 3889 Cadboro Bay House is the large 2-storey house on your right.
B. From the south (Port Angeles, Clipper/Seattle and Bellingham ferry terminals or Victoria bus terminal):
1. Exit ferry terminal to the left onto Belleville Street
2. Belleville swings to the left and becomes Blanshard Street
3. Proceed 4 blocks and turn right on Fort Street
4. Fort becomes Cadboro Bay Road
5. When you arrive at Cadboro Bay Village Cadboro Bay House is just another three blocks further down the road.
